Apna Punjab Association of Bay Area community

Our Story

Born Abroad. Rooted in Punjab.

Apna Punjab Association of Bay Area was founded by Punjabis who left home but never let go of it — a community built on pride, purpose, and an enduring love for the land of five rivers.

How We Came Together

How We Came Together

Thousands of miles from the fields of Punjab, a group of Punjabis in the San Francisco Bay Area found themselves longing for something more than nostalgia. They wanted to act — to celebrate, to give back, and to stay connected to the culture and people they came from.

Apna Punjab Association of Bay Area was born from that longing. What started as informal gatherings of friends and families grew into a thriving community of hundreds — united by shared heritage, shared values, and a shared commitment to Punjab's future.

Today, we organize festivals, honor excellence, support youth, and build bridges between Punjabis abroad and back home. We are not just an association — we are a family.

Our Mission

What Drives Us

"To unite Punjabis living in the Bay Area with their roots back home — celebrating our culture, empowering our youth, honoring our people, and ensuring that the spirit of Punjab thrives across every generation and every continent."

Pride

Celebrating Punjabi culture, language, music, and identity with joy and without apology.

Service

Giving back to Punjab through volunteering, financial support, and building infrastructure for the next generation.

Excellence

Recognizing and inspiring Punjabis who lead with distinction in their professional and personal lives.

Our Faith

Respect for Sikhism

Faith at the Heart of Our Community

Sikhism is the spiritual foundation of Punjabi identity, and we hold it with the deepest reverence. The teachings of the Sikh Gurus — of equality, compassion, selfless service (Seva), and devotion to the One — guide the values of our association. We honor the Gurdwara as a sacred space, celebrate Gurpurabs with devotion, and ensure that the light of Sikhi continues to shine in the lives of our community members and their children, wherever they may be in the world.

1

Seva

Selfless service to humanity — the cornerstone of Sikh practice and our community's spirit.

2

Equality

Every person is equal before Waheguru. We welcome all, regardless of background or belief.

3

Simran

Remembrance of the Divine — we honor the meditative and devotional traditions of the Sikh faith.
